Remember me is a GREAT movie, I really enjoyed it. It is my kind of movie. It is a passionate love story, deep in its message, surprisingly unexpected.
This movie is about a boy and a girl who have had a tough life. She witnessed the murder of her mother in the subway when two men rob them. She was just a kid, so she had to grow up without a mother. His story was very hard too; his brother killed himself right after starting working with their father. Their father was a very busy man who pushed then very hard to be as successful as him, but didn´t spend much time with them or gave them love. So the boy blamed his father for the death of his brother.
The girl and the boy meet because the girl´s father put the boy in jail (he was a police) unfairly so the boy kind of in a revenge and because of a bet with his friend asks her out. After seeing each other for some time they fell in love. One night she gets drunk with him and doesn´t go home to sleep and of course his father was very worried and upset. They have a very ugly discussion and she leaves her house to go live with him. While they live together they start a very passionate romance. They share their experiences with the death of their relatives; they really could understand what each other was feeling. That really strong thing they have in common creates a deep connection that will get them until the end even after a lot of difficulties.
Illusion, suffering, passion, understanding- these mean true love for me. I think it is great when you meet a person that is probably as screwed up as you because that person can really get you, won’t judge you and you can actually learn from him/her. That was the part that felt really related with.
The end of the movie is really unexpected. Totally recommend it!

Plan B
Plan B is a movie about a girl who feels lonely and thinks that love won´t happen for her. Being afraid of staying alone for the rest of her live she decided to have a baby on her own. She goes to the doctor to get an artificial insemination, she is very sure about her decision and se is very excited.
When she goes out of the doctor it starts raining a lot so she stops a taxi, when she gets in at the same time a very cute guy enters the taxi from the other door. Both of them thought that they were first and the other was trying to steal their taxi. He was upset; she, furious. It was an unpleasant moment but there was a strong attraction between them.
They saw each other again and he asked her out. They had a few dates and fell in love. Then is when she finds out she is pregnant and doesn´t want the baby anymore.
Like all Hollywood romantic movies the end up together after breaking up for a while and the live happily ever after. The movie was funny and entertaining, but just to see it in your house, not worth going to the movies.
I think that what is interesting about this movie is that it shows us the reality many women around the world are feeling. Most of us want to be successful professionally before getting married and finding love is not our first priority. I think we want to prove the world that we don´t need a man to survive, and of course it is truth. But I wonder, is it our ego influencing our decision to have a partner who we can spend our lives with? Is it possible to have both a successful career and a good man by our side? I don´t know, but it seems to me that now most of the women fully realized are single.

Clash of the Titans
The Clash of the Titans is a great action movie that kept me excited all through it. What I liked most about it, in terms of the message, is the way the director shows that fighting for what you believe in is worth it, but not because of the result but because of the experiences you gain in all the process. The message is very powerful in the movie because in the end both opposite sides were wrong: the gods and the mortals. Gods -whom in our occidental perspective are perfect- in the movie appear like humans, with mistakes, negative feeling, and just like mortals who are not always right, they appear like individuals that have to learn from their experiences.
Believing in a god can help people set an example in their lives of what is ideal, of what is right, but I think that what could help people even more is to look up for someone that has the same limitations than we all do. Being able to identify with who we admire and knowing that we are capable of achieving what they have is a lot more motivating than knowing that the perfection of a god could never be achieved.
There are always two sides for a conflict and most of the time both are wrong and both are right. There are always reasons for every side that are very valuable, when we focus only in our point of view, we are affecting ourselves because this prevent as from learning. Considering other points of view enriches our knowledge and it gets us closer to whats real.
In the movie both sides learned important things in the process of fighting for what they believed in. It didn't matter who was right in the end, but how learning from their experience made them better.

The Magdalena Sisters
This is a movie that was extremely shocking for me. It is about a convent where girl sinners go to pay for what they have done wrong. The movie starts with a marriage where a boy rapes her cousin, she goes, tells her mother and soon all of the family finds out. She was accused of being provocative and her parents sent her to this horrible convent where the nuns treated them terribly. Not only the nuns make them work without even being allowed to talk; but also they abused the girls every time they could.
Another girl was brought to the convent because she had a son without being married and other because she flirted with some boys in her school. Everything was so unfair back then. Religion has made people do so many horrible an stupid things. I can´t believe how can people in the name of God- who is suppose to be all about good- can hurt and destroy so many lives.
Judging others is the easy part; judging one’s actions is what takes real effort. If only those people could look at themselves before judging and punishing people they wouldn’t even find the time to keep doing it.

88 minutes
88 minutes is a mystery movie about psychiatrist that works for the district attorney’s office. The movie starts with the murder of two twin sisters, the murderer hangs them in a very strange way, he cuts them and made them suffer a lot.
This was a serial killer, in his trial the psychiatrist opinion made the jury find him guilty. The next day the police finds another murder just like the serial killer committed them so people start thinking the one who was in jail wasn’t the killer.
The killer tries to make the psychiatrist seem guilty with the help of a person outside who helps him. The plan was on- a good alibi, evidence, motive – everything to incriminate the psychiatrist.
Like all of the suspense movies there were a lot of turning points that even made me doubt the psychiatrist for a while. But of course the man who was sent to jail at the begging- a very intelligent man- was found guilty of being the one who planned the other murders from jail.
Interesting but not REALLY good.

Little mermaid
This is one of my favorite movies ever. I think it is because I feel so indentify with the main character. I have the feeling very often that I don’t belong in my family, I mean that when I look at them they all seem so similar, they share the same ideas, behavior and I don’t. I have always looked for something else, something different. It is like my family is always living in the safe side and I’m always trying to find adventure and taking risks. Rejected by others, I had to adjust to feel like I belong. But little mermaid didn’t, she went against everyone even against her family to find her happiness.
Families are always trying to make you follow what they did; they want the younger to be an extension of themselves. If you think about it, it is so selfish and unfair. They don’t want you to commit the mistakes they did, they want to do better what they couldn’t, it is like they want you to be some kind of perfect hero.
Never before had anyone challenged their family like Little Mermaid did. That is what I love about this film. Normal is not always the right way to go.

Los abrazos rotos, a movie by Pedro Almadóvar
Is it always better to know the truth? Has there been a time when you wished you didn’t know something? Is lying to someone, to prevent them from suffering, justified?
Today I went to the movies to watch “Los Abrazos rotos”, a movie written and directed by the famous Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almadóvar. This movie is about love and hate, independence and necessity, trust and jealousy, admiration and revenge. It is also about a parent and son relationship, but most importantly for me is about knowing the truth, choosing whether to live in a lie or to accept the truth and its consequences.
This movie not only touches many themes, but it is also hard to categorize as a drama, a mystery or even a comedy. It has so many elements that make it so interesting. I really enjoyed the film and one of the reasons is that it made me question myself about what it means living in a lie. Probably the reason why it was for me the most important theme is because of what I went through these last days. Haven’t we all felt betrayed?
Penelope Cruz was the main character of the film and her acting was exceptional together with Luis Omar and Blanca Portilla. The photography was beautiful and the way the movie developed until the end, when the truth was finally known, was fascinating.
I wouldn’t like to say more about the story because I feel everyone should watch it.
So, living in a lie or accepting the ugly truth? I will go with the second one. I think that if everyone tries to live like that and stops trying to decorate the truth we would actually live with a lot less weight and a lot more love.

A very little hero
Thomas Castello, a three year old boy saved a whole family during a fire yesterday.
Thomas was playing in his big garden when he saw fire coming out of the guardian’s house, which is located 40 meters from his house. He thought it was interesting and went to see what it was. When he got to the door he heard his friend, the guard’s son, asking him to open the door, they were locked inside. Thomas did it and saved them.
“A little longer in there we would have suffocated” said Charlie Holmes, the guard. “I always have the keys with me I must have dropped them today”. After Thomas set the family free they called the firemen who came very quickly and put the fire down. The cause of the fire is attributed to a shortcut.
Susan, Thomas mother, says she was doing the laundry when everything happened, she said that Thomas couldn’t reach the door that leads to the garden before that day. Susan thought Thomas was playing with his cars in his bedroom but when she couldn’t find him anywhere in the house she went outside and saw fire, she run to see what was going on and saw Thomas opening the door of the guardian’s house, she took him and went to call the fire station.
“Everything happened so fast, I left Thomas in his bedroom and I took just a moment putting the clothes in the washing machine, and when I came back he was gone” said Susan. She said she was so upset because she couldn’t find Thomas but after she knew what he did she was very proud.

My thoughts
In life, most of the time we spend our time following a rutine and very quickly we start doing things automatically. But we can't live like that for so long, so that is when accidents happen. Before a fractured my anckle I was not paying attention to my walking, it was so easy that I just took for granted that I was able to walk. Even when we know that so many people are not able to walk we are not grateful. This time has made me realize how lucky I am and my whole family is to be complete. Also I am very grateful of my family and friends that have been very supportive with my condition. So maybe accidents are a wake up call to appreciate what we have.
Without a leg for a while
It was a a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, I woke up very excited because I was going to play tennis with my mom and dad. I love tennis, it is my favorite sport, for it I have stopped smoking and I was starting to change my life style. But anyway, we were playing doubles with my parents and friend of them, it was a very exciting match, we were 5-5. Suddenly a really fast ball came to my side of the court, I thought I was not going to be able to get it but I tried anyway. I managed to hit the ball and just then I steped wrongly and twisted my ankle. I couldn't even scream, it was hurting so bad. No one notice I was down for a while because I hit the ball so they just continued playing. Not so nice. I have been with a cast for 12 days no and I have 8 more to go. I hope it goes by quickly.

New Year
I have so many wishes and plans for the future, but sometimes I forget what my goals are and I spent too much time in things that are not really important. So for the 2010 I am going to be more focused on my goals and how to reach them. One of the things I would like to acomplish is finding a good job that I really like and care about, I would also like to earn some money so I can save some for my 2010 trip I am planning. I would also like to be more organized with my stuff and time. Be more patient, exercise, read more and improve my relationships with everyone.
